Back working on short fiction

I’ve been loving the painting so much it has taken me this long to get back to short fiction, but I’m back! (with 12 finished–and framed–paintings and 3 more half done. Am I manic?). Also, got my crit for my novel last Tuesday and I’m really charged up about it. So much to do, and so little time. I’m away doing three different family things 5 days this week which will be fun, but it slows down the progress on writing, that’s for sure.

Oh, and Renovation is going to use me as a workshop critiquer! I was so pleased to have my work critiqued by professionals back at Worldcon in Anaheim five years ago, this is my opportunity to repay the work. Looking forward to it!

Did I mention I have taken up painting?

So much to do and so little time to do it! I still haven’t bought a single piece of soapstone, and although I bought a sewing machine in February, it is still in the box. However, I finally bought paints, brushes and canvas boards, to go with the easel I build in January. And, so far, I have made 7 paintings! Loving it! But the short fiction has suffered as a result…sigh. I get my novel back from my beta readers on Tuesday, so back to writing, then!

Finished proofing my Edge novel

Final proof edits for Technicolor Ultra Mall were approved by the author and sent in to Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing yesterday, and they will finish the layout this weekend. Launch in the fall. Very exciting! Also, I finally bought paint, canvases and brushes and have completed two paintings, and am half way through the third. Plus, I have an idea for another short story–will likely get to that tomorrow when it rains.

I sold a novelette to Analog!

What a thrill! Stan didn’t want too much in the way of edits, either–just a few additional dialog tags on the first page and something other than “camera flash” on page 9. Did the changes and he got right back to me saying they were fine! My first novelette (10,200 words)! So, my second sale for 2011!

Short story submitted to workshop

Got my short story revised and sent out to the workshop for this summer. Next up: copy edits for my last Edge novel and communicating with my next Edge author! Then, got to get some short fiction out on the market.
