Fantastic review of “Orange!”

This is so awesome! I got a great review of “Orange” in Adam Shaftoe’s Page of Reviews – he loved the story. You can read the review here.

  1. Great review, susan. I’m printing the story off and reading it asap. Also really enjoyed “The Right Chemistry”. You must have had to do research into chemistry–what got you interested?

  2. Hi, Colette. This story actually came from a prompt to write on “Toques in Space.” I couldn’t think of an idea for that, so I decided to write about “space in toques.” Dead-air spaces are what make wool warm, and I figured the likely inhabitants could be atoms. Then I changed the toque to a holly berry on a Christmas ornament…

Actually, I didn’t have to do a lot of research, because most of it was chemistry I remembered from high school (also, Holly and Amy both took chemistry in the last couple of years). The one thing I got mixed up was “dihydrogen oxide” — I think in an earlier version I called it “hydrogen dioxide” and one of my friends corrected me on it–thank goodness.

Great to hear from you again–and glad you liked my stories!
    Talk to you soon–
    Susan
