Love editing Strangers Among Us. Just got a new story and promise of 2 more, plus a poem, and am well into line edits on the already-submitted stuff. This is an anthology of great stories!
Worldcon a great success
Two weekends and two cons. Personally, Worldcon was a good success for me, as I was able to make good connections with new editors as well as touch base with old friends. Did some programming, worked for SFWA (the most efficient board meeting ever), and caught a cold so didn’t get to do any partying. Oh, well.
WWC was awesome–as always
I had the great good fortune to be Sally Harding’s liaison for the weekend, and what a delightful guest she was! Very generous with her time, both for me, and for all the attendees. As well, she seemed to have a good time, too!
When Words Collide is Coming!
Only 3 days until my first commitment to WWC: picking up Sally Harding at the airport! Then, from Thursday through Sunday, it will be a busy 4 days! I have a number of commitments from panels to hosting a party, to autographs, to running a SFWA meeting…should be mildly exhausting!
Learning to sail, as research
Just finished my 4-week intro to sailing course–and I got my certificate! I was kind of surprised, because when I capsized the boat I wasn’t able to get back into it, so I thought I failed. Sailing was a lot of fun, if scary. However, it was also a good form of research for my pirate novel. Library books or trips to Amsterdam’s Museum of Maritime History and simply riding on a sailing ship as a passenger are all helpful, but to sail my own craft–that was great.
