Final pass of my novel is going great. Hoped to have it finished today…well, that’s not happening. But I am discovering 2 things: the final pass is proving to be super useful because I AM finding tiny nits (mostly consistency in weather, timeline, etc) to change and am doing my 10% solution, which always makes the text sing; AND–I’m loving it. True, an author should be wary about falling in love with their own work (kill your darlings), but I think it is better than it boring me. If my book bores me, it will certainly bore others. So–not boring! And I’m super happy!
Novel Revisions almost complete
All the scenes I wanted to add, and all the rearranging of scenes has been done, and I am on my final pass of the novel! Yay!
WFC was awesome!
A busy WFC had me both on a panel and doing a reading, both of which went well. Also helped to host the SF Canada party, and held a SFWA informational meeting. Attended lots of social events, met old friends and made new ones. All told, an excellent convention!
World Fantasy Next Week!
The novel revisions are so close to being done, I can taste it! However, they won’t be quite complete before I head to World Fantasy on Wednesday. It’s not a firm deadline, just my personal goal. However, WFC will be fun, and I get to be on a panel as well as do a reading. Also, helping to organize the SFC party, and running a SFWA info meeting. Busy.
Calyx Art Show–huge success!
This week was devoted to painting: Today, I had my paintings at the Calyx Distinctive Arts show, and I sold two paintings! More than that, I have the event on my resume, met some amazing artists and was able to network and get info and cards/contacts. Super fun, and a very welcoming, friendly group–and extremely well-organized. Also, it was very cool to spend an entire day in a “gallery” going back to look at the paintings (and phenomenal glass, pottery, jewelry and fabric arts as well) over and over. Learning.
