To edit a novel for Edge. This is very cool work. I have a great author to work with, who listens openmindedly (is that an adverb?! My spell-checker doesn’t like it) to my suggestions, though he has areas he wants to maintain. So far, I can see how he as done both — used my suggestions and kept the scenes he most wants — to great effect. I am really enjoying both his book, and the process!
Another short story in the mail!
That brings me up to six, currently. Love how the novel is coming. And–I think I mentioned that I am now fiction editor for Edge Press–I have my author, Ryan Oakley’s, rewrites as of today, and so will be putting most things aside for a bit to get him some feedback.
Okay, tomorrow I babysit my grandson, so I won’t put that aside. Boy, days sure are full!
Happy, happy!
So, returning to my novel, I am very happy! The opening is GOOD! I am inspired and energized to push on!
Trip to England and Christmas
…were both awesome! Since returning home, I have built an art studio in the basement (and cleaned the basement) and yesterday sent off 2 stories. Today I go back to my novel — I’m really excited!!
Need a book for an 8-12-year-old for Christmas?
My friend’s book, Dead Bird Through the Cat Door (a Nancy-Drew-type mystery for 8-12 year olds), just came out on Amazon! If you use Amazon.ca or .uk ignore the part where it says the book is not available or out of stock. It is available (it’s a glitchy thing that will be resolved). The novel is also available for kindle on the .com and .co.uk sites. Here are the links:
Jan Markley is a great friend and a wonderful writer — hope you enjoy her book!
