Progress on Book 4 of the series. Loving it, but not putting enough bum-in-chair time. Still doing lots of family support. It’ll take a while.
Book Review: Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
Non-fiction 5-/5
This book explores the psychology of our interactions with strangers, using many contemporary and historical examples to show how we are, at times, biologically and culturally destined for misunderstanding. I really enjoyed this book and found it fascinatingly informative. I listened to it on audio, and there are audio clips from a number of different sources in addition to the narration of the text.
Busy week–but no writing
Taking care of family this week–youngsters’ camping, thank you cards for all the people who generously helped with my daughter’s Celebration of Life, and spending time with family in support (which, of course, works both ways! 🙂 ).
Book Review: Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
Horror 4+/5
Maggie, a monster-hunter, discovers the killer of the abducted child she was sent to find is much more devious than anyone suspected. There is so much to love about this novel: the great characterization and relationships depicted, the unique and creative setting, and the ever-deepening mystery and increasing stakes. Recommended!
Summit Series: Sylvia Forest, Braided Tracks
My latest “book” came out yesterday. Booklet, actually: only 11K words–a bio of my sister, fifth woman in Canada to earn her full Mountain Guides certification, with an amazing career of rescues in the mountains.
