Had excellent critique from a number of sources, including my paid editor and spent the week working on The Shadow Spy’s Daughter. Good progress!
Book Review: Ghost Talkers by Mary Robinette Kowal
Fantasy 3/5
Ginger, a member of the British Spirit Corps during World War I who take the psychic accounts of soldiers as they die in battle, discovers a traitor. An enjoyable book but a little slow-paced.
A Break in Revisions
Took a break in novel revisions to review edits to the book on courage, then pass it back to the detective I’m working with. Now back to my own novel revisions!
Oh! And tomorrow I’m on a panel at Calgary Comic Expo, titled, “How to Become a Writer–Sci Fi and Fantasy.” Should be fun!
Book Review: The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Thriller 4-/5
When symbologist Robert Langdon is drawn into solving a series of murders, clues lead him to discover a secret held by the Catholic Church for two thousand years. Right. Everyone knows this book. A lot of people have said how badly written it was, but I didn’t find it that bad. The story gallops, and the final reveal is worth the price. It’s probably a bit too long for the payoff.
Novel revisions going well
Working from 3 sources: professional edit, critique by a well-published author, and critique by an expert in the field, I’ve been revising The Shadow Spy’s Daughter. All the comments have been super-helpful!
