I am immersed in my research in Lyon, Grenoble, and Valance, staying in a tiny village called Les Echelles in the Chartreuse Massif. This is Resistance country, and we have seen the little village of Izieu, where Klaus Barbie sent 44 Jewish orphans to Auschwitz, the high passes where the Allies parachuted supplies to the SOE, and interviewed two amazing historians about the Resistance. Jutta and Rupert are a German mother and son who invited us into their home for drinks, appetizers, and dinner. Inspiration for my book is everywhere!
Pierre and Tina
Our European adventure has begun! We picked up our motorcycle from Westjet, took the Chunnel to France, and spent a couple of days with friends we made here in 2015. Riding has been cold and wet, but the south of France beckons!
Research trip finalized
Finished another small editing job and have the way cleared for the trip to Europe–leaving Tuesday. Got a translator for the second interview, so everything is arranged for the research part of the trip!
Book Review: Why Not Me? By Mindy Kaling
Memoir 4/5
Starlet and comedy writer Mindy Kaling opens up about Hollywood in an uproarious collection of essays. I confess, I had no idea who Mindy Kaling was before I read this hilarious memoir, but I gobbled up every chapter. Recommended!
Another edit finished!
Finished my next client’s edit–only one more (short) one to go before heading to Europe. Got my taxes done, too!
