Supporting local authors

Had a great evening this week at “A Taste of Local Authors” a twice-yearly event organized by Randy McCharles at Owl’s Nest Books. It is always a hugely popular event. Nine local authors whose books are all coming out this fall read for 5 mins each in 3 groups of 3, with wine and treats and lots of schmoozing in between–very party atmosphere. Then we all went out to the bar.

Tons of fun, and I bought a book by Axel Howerton whose work has been recommended (and I really enjoyed his reading), published by Tyche Books, a newer local publisher also with a good rep.

In Other News…Successful Art Show

Thanks to Anna for hosting her third annual Fine Arts Event and Show. I sold three paintings and a book, for a total of just over $600. In addition, two people took my card, to consider other paintings. Very successful day!

Motorcycle writing

Cool motorcycle trip in Mexico. Wrote 3000 words on the back of the bike as Don drove, and transcribed it on the plane on the way home.

Sold a Short Story!

Hot off the press–haven’t even signed the contract yet (though I have it, but I don’t have access to a printer to sign it, scan it and return it) so no details, but I am super-excited!!!

Novel revision launched

I’m still reading the third and final resource Sam recommended: Screenwriting 101 by Crit Hulk, and I am about half way through, but the novel re-plot is finished (pending cool ideas I might get from Crit Hulk) and I’ve begun the rewrite. One of the parts I have been particularly enjoying is trying to bump up the atmosphere of occult mystery in the first few scenes. Loving the revision!
