Although I took a break after the launch and awards program, I’m already onto the next novel. I’ve arranged a virtual writers’ retreat for next weekend, and while sitting on the back of my husband’s motorcycle I’m generating plot points so I’m ready to go!
Book launch went well!
So, Flights of Marigold is out, and I was able to do a virtual launch at When Words Collide. I did a reading, showed my new video, “Taste of Images: Rebel Camp” and had Q&A. Thirty-four people came! Including a cousin from Ireland and a friend/writer from Washington DC. I think Flights got off to a wonderful start!
OMG–Bursts of Fire won the Aurora!
Today has been a surreal day. I launched Flights of Marigold, and 34 people came, including friends from as far away as Ireland, Seattle, and Washington DC! Also released the new video: “Taste of Images: The Rebel Camp.”
Then in the evening, Bursts of Fire won the Aurora Award for Best YA Novel, and Sora’s song won for Best Poem/Song!
Wow. Just, WOW.
A bit more film captured!
So, yeah. Sometimes you take a few days off, right? This week I went on a 3-day backpacking trip with family, and it was awesome! BUT, I did manage to get a bit of video of me hiking, which will be in the can for a future video (Susan writes action-adventure because she loves adventure). I already have a bit of me on a motorcycle and was going to capture some downhill skiing before the ski hills all closed this spring. Oh, well. This could be a project for next winter.
Rough draft of new video almost done
Did spend a bit of time this week working on editing the new video. I have a media artist, Holly Totten working on it with me, and she’s so talented! I am truly lucky to have her!
