Fantastic writers’ retreat

So, I DID submit Book 2 to the publisher, and had a couple of days to look at Book 3. The first half is pretty solid, and the second half is a strong skeleton (with a fair amount of flesh). It would be good to have it finished by the end of the month. Maybe…  🙂

Proofing the Audiobook

Spent the week on a deadline, listening to the audiobook for Bursts of Fire (Book 1) and making notes for corrections. Was SOOO cool to hear the book read aloud by a professional actor–and she IS super-professional. In 110,000 words, I found 2 mispronunciations and 6 errors. I think that is phenomenal. It was also a good review, as I am doing final proofing edits on Book 2 (which I’ll submit today, I think) and working on Book 3 (which is at finished-first-draft stage) this week, so the entire first half of the series is right in my head.

Backpacking double-duty

Had a wonderful family backpacking trip into the mountains this weekend, and managed to also capture some video for a book trailer video that will be out, possibly next summer, about me as an author/adventurer. Had a ton of fun. All the adults were amazed at how well the kids did–kept right on walking, carried their backpacks, and had a great time. Walking out the next day in the rain was less fun, but no complaints!

Edits to Book 2

Spent the week editing Book 2–just a few commas, and so forth, but I wanted to read the whole thing through one last time to be sure it was as smooth as possible. In to the editor today!
