Book Review: Transient City by Al Onia

Science Fiction 4/5

On a mobile mining city on a distant planet, Victor, a crime scene witness, is drawn into investigating the abduction of a corporate executive. Noir-toned, this book fascinated me with the ever deepening spiral of complications that takes Victor through a fascinating world. The characters and their complex relationships, and the clues, revelations, and rising stakes make this a gripping read.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas break so I took time off. Merry Christmas everyone! Have a wonderful New Year’s Celebration (if that’s what you do) tomorrow!

Book Review: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

Memoir 5+/5

Trevor Noah, known most widely for hosting The Daily Show, grew up in South Africa at a time when being born of a Black mother and a White father was illegal. This funny and delightful memoir was a book I couldn’t put down, and was happy to read a second time. Not only are the stories full of the hilarious pranks of childhood, they reveal Noah’s deep love for his mother and family, and the horrific effects of life under apartheid.
