Got home from holidays and had the galleys for “Turning It Off” in my email from Analog. Proofed them and sent them back yesterday. Yes!!
Life gets in the way–not always a bad thing
Sigh. Not much progress in my writing this week. However, I did get to hike up to the Valley of the Four Winds with my two daughters and do some sketching. Also, spent Canada Day doing face-painting for a steam excursion group–took my three daughters and my grandson, which was a hoot. Also spent about 6 hours today trying to repair a riding mower–well, my husband is the small-engines guy, I mostly just handed him tools. Darn thing still doesn’t work (I mean the mower), but had a lovely day learning about small engines and enjoying the sunshine. No writing, though. Tomorrow!
Did I mention I have taken up painting?
So much to do and so little time to do it! I still haven’t bought a single piece of soapstone, and although I bought a sewing machine in February, it is still in the box. However, I finally bought paints, brushes and canvas boards, to go with the easel I build in January. And, so far, I have made 7 paintings! Loving it! But the short fiction has suffered as a result…sigh. I get my novel back from my beta readers on Tuesday, so back to writing, then!
Edits going well
I wanted to round out one element with a subplot which will bring the novel up to 90,000. However, once I really get into revision, that may go shorter–or longer–but not by much.
Novel Done!
It’s only 80,000 words, and I have some ideas for a bit of expansion in the revision.
