First revision almost done!

I’ve been making good progress on revising my novel, and will have one pass done by Wednesday, my deadline for my beta readers. I can get an extension, and I’ll probably ask for one, because the book really needs one more burn through. I’m hoping they are willing to give me, maybe 5 more days, but I might have to book my manuscript into the September slot instead of August. But that’s fine by me. I’ll see what they say–they’re a pretty flexible group.

Nebula Awards Conference

I got a good start on revising the WIP this week, but I also attended the Nebula Conference this weekend, so that took a bit of my time. It was nice to connect with a few people I haven’t seen in forever.

Gathering of Ghosts done–first draft

I finished my current work in progress yesterday–first draft. It’s to go to beta readers in 2 weeks, so I need the next draft done by then.

Also, I attended a writers workshop today with Anthony Doerr (from Idaho–All the Light We Cannot See). It was great–all about de-familiarizing to avoid clichés.

Goal: First draft of Gathering of Ghosts by the end of the month

Finished with two editing clients this week, leaving me pretty open for my novel, and I DID get some work done on it. I’m at about the 80% mark and hope to have the first draft done by the end of the month. I’m currently doing panels online as Winnipeg’s Keycon Editor Guest of Honor. Keeping busy!

Presenting this week for the Canadian Authors’ Association

Got a few chapters done on the WIP, so that’s going well. Editing clients and other writing-adjacent work is still eating up some of my time, but presenting to people is fun and keeps me active in the community. This week I’ll be presenting on “Backstory Secrets” on behalf of the Canadian Authors’ Association!
