Revised Chapter 10, and wrote Chapter 11 AND 12, and revised both. Also did a first pass at the revisions for my short story, using the critiques of my writers’ group from last week. Overall, very productive. Can’t wait to start chapter 13 – maybe as early as today (though I have regular life back, as well). This is a short novel, only 80,000 words, so the home stretch is in sight!
It Was Fabulous!
Although my word count at the Rainforest Writers’ Retreat wasn’t high (about 6000), I also re-read and edited 50,000 words and am into the second half of the novel. However, the retreat had many great sessions (2 per day) on managing time flow in fiction, character, setting, breaking into print and contracts, as well as breakfasts, lunches and social events.
The weather was perfect: rainy and cool, so sitting in front of the fireplace writing was the only place I wanted to be. And the people there had an electric energy that was infectious! So good to be kibitzing with so many highly respected authors! Attendees included Nancy Kress, Jack Skillingstead, Jay Lake, James Van Pelt and Louise Marley. Thanks, Patrick (Swensen, Fairwood Press) for organizing!
I’m Here!!
At the Rainforest Writers’ Retreat – and back to my novel. Total excitement!
Rainforest Writers’ Retreat on Wednesday!!
Finished editing the novel for Edge (this round, at least) and want to get mucho short fiction out on the market in the next 2 days because Wednesday I head to the Olympic peninsula west of Seattle for Patrick Swensen/Fairwood Press’s writers’ retreat. THAT is reserved for my novel! Can’t wait!
Retreat on the weekend
Only a few more days to go–six of us going to Banff to lock ourselves into a condo for 3 days of uninterrupted writing! It will be great! Can’t wait to get back to the novel!
